A new luxury train for Rajasthan on the lines of Palace on Wheels
The Tourism ministry of India is all set to launch the new luxury train, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels on the lines of Palace on Wheels. The train will be flagged off by Tourism Minister, Mrs Ambika Soni on January 11, 2009. With a seating capacity of 82, two super deluxe suites, 13 deluxe saloons, two restobars and international spa facilities, the train is surely going to offer a royal sojourn to the tourists on board. Estimated to cost around Rs 400 million, it is expected to earn a profit of Rs120 million in its very first year. Starting from New Delhi, the train will have Jaipur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bharatpur and Agra as its major stopovers.
Air India set to cut air fares
Air India, the state-owned airline of India, announced the cut in air fares up to 82 percent in as many as 20 different sectors. The new fares will be effective January 1, 2009. The officials of the airlines expect the private players to follow the suit and offer more perks to the commuters. Jet Airways and Kingfisher already offering the much reduced fares. The highest cut is on the Bangalore-Chennai sector where basic fare has reduced to Rs 200 from Rs 1100, a cut of nearly 82 percent. The officials are hopeful about the more drop in air fares in near future.
Kashmir all geared up for tourists
Kashmir, one of the main tourist destinations of India, is all set for the winter tourism. The tourism department of the state along with Travel Agent Society of Kashmir and Central Government has planned to organize various fairs, awareness seminars, road shows, all across the state to promote scenic Kashmir as a secure tourist destination. The tourist will also be offered a glimpse into the culinary delights of the state with various food festivals being organized in the season.
