British tourists heading to India will have to shell out extra visa charges, reports Charles Starmer-Smith:

Foreign Tourists

India has slapped extra charges on British travelers while applying for visas when traveling to India. For its visa section the Indian High Commission has signed up with VFS Global, a company that has initiated new handling fees and a high-priced premium telephone line for inquiries. This means that a three-month visa will now cost 38 (up from 30) while applied for in person or through the Net, whereas postal applications will cost 45.40.
